Clarity of Mission
There is so much to be done in our Mission. It’s a given that we can’t do it all. (This will, no doubt, disappoint some who expect more from us.) But we know what our part, our role/mission is, and upon that we focus our resources and plans. Our clarity and focus we believe was God given and we refuse to be or do someone else’s Mission in the Body. We are a message-centered event driven ministry.
The core tenants behind Mission Uprising are, to set hearts free in Jesus Christ, to be a catalyst for the masculine journey. The message and events are about irreversible change, setting hearts free, walking with God, and living in the Larger Story as men and women.
Irreversible Change
Our events, resources, and ministry decisions have the goal of irreversible change. Our life is a story and we have the power to change our story by the choices we make. When a man, women or child comes to one of our events, our goal is that their story changed, life is lived differently because of the experience of a particular moment in time.
Setting Hearts Free
We came to a point in our lives as Christians where we began asking ourselves, “is this it”, “is this all there is to the Christian life”. Going to church on Sunday, maybe a Bible study here and there, small group. We were just “doing” church. It shook us to the core.
What we realized is we weren’t alone. We looked around at the other men in the church even non-believers and noticed that there really wasn’t much life.
We believe that Jesus came for life and life abundant! It begins with a true conversational relationship with Jesus Christ, not just doing church.
Walking with God
Ask most Christians what “walking with God” means and the answers would vary greatly, as they should. Walking with God is a very personal thing. Unfortunately, most would probably give you a list of “rules” they are to live by, things to avoid and things that are ok to do.
Walking with God is about Freedom and Life. Jesus said that he came to bind up the broken hearted and set the captives free. He has a simple command, Follow Me. Following Him allows for freedom and life, not rules and regulations. Therefore, what does God really have for each of us that as He stands knocking, we are not answering?
The Bigger Story
We believe that we are a part of a story that was begun thousands of years ago by the Creator of the Universe. As God created the heavens and the earth and all things in it, He also created man and woman in His image. Our story begins “in the beginning”.
Our story should be directly related to the bigger story God is in. If we are merely living for ourselves then God cannot work through us. The band Mercy Me has a lyric in one of their songs that says “how can I further your Kingdom when I am so wrapped up in mine”, that is what we are saying, most Christians live in the small story of the day to day. We desire to show them that there is more, so much more that God has for them.
Leadership
Instead of a hierarchy, Mission Uprising is led by a community of leaders sharing their gifts, perspectives, and the weight of their lives in a unified voice and direction.
We Live And Work With The Deep Belief That Our Hearts Are Good
We are a ministry that believes God’s promise to “take away our heart of stone” and “give us a new heart” has been accomplished by the work of Jesus Christ. We have good hearts. We appeal to the deepest and truest parts of one’s being, believing that as a Christian, our deepest and truest desires are for that which is true, honorable, holy, pure, and beautiful.
Humility, Love, and Forgiveness
All we have has been given to us as a gift from God; … we remember this and pray that all our dealings with people, whether they be for us or against us, would be marked by genuine humility, love, and forgiveness.
We are all under renovation…
